Navan reviews and complaints from business customers before you sign
Navan has two reputations. Finance teams who buy it rate it among the best travel and expense tools on the market. Travelers who use it write some of the angriest reviews in the category. Both are telling the truth about different parts of the product, and knowing which part you are buying is how you avoid becoming the next one-star review.
Whichever tool you pick
See the day a travel budget alert would have fired
No review covers this, because no travel tool does it well: telling the sales VP that the team has used 80 percent of the quarter's travel budget by week five. Set a budget, replay a month of card spend, and watch when the alert fires.

The short version
Are Navan reviews good?
It depends on who wrote them. On software review sites, where most reviewers are admins and finance staff, Navan scores 4.6 on Capterra and 4.7 on G2 as Navan reports it. On Trustpilot, where most reviewers are travelers, it scores 3.2 from 480 reviews, with 47 percent five-star and 33 percent one-star. The software is well liked. The trip support is where it loses people.
Navan reviews on each platform
Read the reviewer, not just the score. A G2 review is usually written by someone who set up policies and approval flows. A Trustpilot review is usually written by someone stuck at a gate.
Swipe the table sideways to compare all columns.
| Platform | Score | Reviews | Who mostly writes them |
|---|---|---|---|
| G2 | 4.7 of 5 | 9,000+ | Admins, finance and travel managers. Figure as shown on Navan's own site. |
| Capterra | 4.6 of 5 | About 210 | Business users. Value for money is the lowest subscore at 4.2. 80 percent would recommend. |
| Trustpilot | 3.2 of 5 | 480 | Individual travelers. 47 percent five-star, 33 percent one-star, very little in between. |
| Gartner Peer Insights | Mixed | Small sample | IT and finance buyers. Praise for faster expense review, a June 2026 complaint about duplicate charges. |
| Glassdoor | 4.0 of 5 | About 1,000 | Navan employees. About the employer, not the product. |
Scores as displayed on each platform on October 9, 2026. Review counts move weekly.
The Trustpilot shape matters more than its average. Almost half the reviews are five stars and a third are one star, with only 7 percent at two or three. That is what a product looks like when the everyday booking works and the exceptions do not. Nobody writes a three-star review about a flight that went fine.
What Navan reviews praise
The consistent praise is consolidation. Booking, the corporate card and the expense report live in one app, so a hotel booked in Navan arrives in the expense report already matched, and the traveler never chases a receipt. Finance reviewers describe expense submission and review getting much faster, which is the outcome they bought it for.
Travelers like the interface when nothing goes wrong: clean search, good hotel inventory, and rewards for booking under the policy cap. Admins like that policy is enforced at booking time instead of argued about at reimbursement time. And the price is hard to argue with below 300 employees, where Navan pricing charges nothing for travel and $15 per active user a month for expenses after the first five.
What are the most common Navan complaints?
The recurring complaints are changing booked trips and applying airline credits, slow support during disruptions, fares that look higher than booking direct, app bugs such as duplicate expenses, and accounting integrations. Navan's own blog acknowledges the first three and says it added 24/7 chat and an AI travel agent in response.
01
Changes, cancellations and credits
The single biggest theme. Rebooking round trips, multi-leg itineraries and using an unused ticket credit take several contacts.
02
Support when it counts
Long holds, a bot before a person, and cases left open. Navan replies to 89 percent of negative Trustpilot reviews, usually after a month.
03
Fares above booking direct
Some travelers find the same room or seat cheaper on the supplier's site. Free booking is funded by commissions, so check rates.
04
Bugs and duplicate expenses
Reports of expenses appearing twice and of edit limits after submission, plus a slow or crashing app on some devices.
05
Accounting integrations
Sync problems with ERPs such as NetSuite come up in finance reviews. If your close depends on the sync, test it with your own chart of accounts during the trial, not on a demo company.
Why does Navan have bad reviews on Trustpilot?
Trustpilot mostly collects reviews from individual travelers, and people write when a trip goes wrong. A missed connection, a refund held as a credit or a 40-minute hold during a storm produces a one-star review. The controller who bought Navan for its policy engine and expense matching rarely posts there at all.
That does not make the complaints less real. It tells you where to point your due diligence. The demo will show you the booking flow and the expense report, and both are good. It will not show you a Friday night cancellation, so ask for that specifically.
How to test Navan reviews against your own company before signing
Turn each complaint theme into a question with a written answer. These five cover nearly everything in the one-star reviews:
- What is the support response time for a traveler mid-trip, by phone and by chat, and is it in the contract?
- How are unused ticket credits tracked and applied, and do they stay with us if we leave?
- Can a traveler change one leg of a multi-city trip in the app without calling?
- How are duplicate card transactions and receipts detected before they hit an expense report?
- Will you run the ERP sync on a copy of our real chart of accounts during the trial?
Then watch the vendor after you sign. Review scores move, and a wave of outage complaints usually shows up in public before it shows up in your inbox. If you are committing to a multi-year contract, setting up social listening on the vendor's name is a cheap way to hear about a support collapse before your travelers do.
If those answers come back weak, the honest comparison set is on our Navan alternatives page. Head-to-heads with the two most common rivals are in Navan vs Ramp and Navan vs SAP Concur, and if you are leaving an agency-run booking tool for Navan, our Egencia alternatives page prices both at your booking volume.
Is Navan worth it for a small business?
Usually yes on cost. Navan charges nothing for booking at companies up to 300 employees, and expenses are free for five active users, then $15 per active user a month. A 60-person company with 40 people filing expenses pays about $6,300 a year. Value for money is still its lowest Capterra subscore, so count active users honestly before you compare quotes.
What no review mentions is the budget view. Navan checks each trip against policy, and each trip can be fine while the department total runs 40 percent over by the 20th. Rideshares, client dinners and the hotel someone booked direct never pass through the booking tool at all. That is the gap SpendNotify covers: it reads the charges on the cards you already hold and warns the budget owner by email, Slack or webhook while the month is still open. It does not book travel, so it sits next to Navan rather than replacing it. See how on budget alerts.
Questions buyers ask
Navan reviews questions
Is Navan legit?
Yes. Navan, formerly TripActions, is a Palo Alto company founded in 2015 and listed on Nasdaq as NAVN since October 2025. It runs travel and expense programs for thousands of companies. The complaints about it are about service quality during disruptions, not about whether bookings and payments are real.
Are Navan reviews on Glassdoor about the product?
No. Glassdoor reviews come from Navan employees about working there, about 4.0 from roughly 1,000 reviews. They say nothing about how the travel and expense product performs for a customer. For that, read G2, Capterra, Gartner Peer Insights and Trustpilot.
Is Navan better than Brex for travel?
For booking, Navan is the more complete tool and charges nothing up to 300 employees, while Brex charges a fee per booked trip. Many companies use both through BrexPay for Navan. Our Brex vs Navan breakdown prices both for a 60-person company.
