Egencia alternatives and Egencia competitors priced at your booking volume

Egencia charges per booking plus a platform fee, and publishes neither. Navan charges nothing for booking up to 300 employees. Perk takes a percentage of each trip, and TravelBank charges a flat fee that a rebate can cancel. Which is cheapest depends on how many trips you book a year, so the table below runs all four at three program sizes.

Short answer

What are the best Egencia alternatives?

For a US company under 300 employees, Navan is the strongest Egencia alternative on cost, because booking is free and paid for by supplier commissions. Perk fits teams that travel in bursts and would rather pay per trip. TravelBank pays for itself above roughly $500,000 of travel a year. SAP Concur Travel still makes sense for global programs already on Concur Expense, which is also where Egencia itself is hardest to beat.

Before you compare

Why Egencia renewals look different now

Egencia started as Expedia's business travel arm. It now belongs to the largest travel management company in the world, and that changes both what you are buying and who you negotiate with.

When What happened What it means for you
November 2021 Amex GBT completes its purchase of Egencia from Expedia Group. Expedia takes a minority stake in GBT. Your booking tool is now sold and serviced by a travel management company, not an online travel agency.
September 2025 Amex GBT completes its acquisition of CWT. One of the agencies you might have bid against Egencia now has the same owner. The shortlist of independents got shorter.
April 2026 Egencia adds an AI assistant and a native integration into SAP Concur Expense. If you file expenses in Concur, staying got easier. If you do not, this release does little for you.

Why staying can make sense

Egencia comes with Amex GBT agents behind the online tool, which matters when a flight cancels at 11 pm and 40 people need rebooking. Its reporting is the part reviewers praise most. And for a company on Concur Expense, the April 2026 integration makes it one of the cleanest booking tools to sit on top of Concur. Our Egencia vs Concur comparison goes through that choice in detail.

Why companies start looking

The fee is per booking, so it grows with every trip, while two of the main alternatives charge nothing for booking at all. Vendr also reports 3 to 5 percent annual escalators as standard, and one buyer reported Egencia asking for $2 more per air trip at renewal. A renewal quote is usually when someone multiplies the per-booking fee by the annual trip count for the first time.

Egencia competitors compared on price, model and fit

Prices read from each vendor's own pricing page where one exists. Where a vendor does not publish a number, the table says so instead of guessing.

Tool Price Who pays Best for
Egencia No public price. Vendr ranges: $15 to $25 a booking for small accounts, $10 to $18 mid-market, $6 to $12 enterprise, plus a platform fee. You, per booking. Agent-assisted bookings cost more. Companies on SAP Concur Expense that want Amex GBT agents behind the booking tool.
Navan Travel free up to 300 employees. Expense free for 5 active users, then $15 per active user a month. Enterprise quoted. Airlines and hotels, through commissions. Companies under 300 people that want booking and expenses in one app at $0 booking cost.
Perk Starter $0 plus 5% a booking. Premium $99 a month plus 3%. Pro $299 plus 3%. Every fee between $2 and $30 a booking. You, as a percentage of each trip. Teams that travel unevenly and want no annual commitment.
TravelBank Premium $5,000 a year with a 1% travel rebate, Elite $10,000 with 2%. Rebate starts at $250,000 booked. You, flat. The rebate can pay it back. U.S. Bank card programs booking more than about $500,000 of travel a year.
SAP Concur Travel Expense from $7 a report on Base and $11 on Plus. Concur Travel only on Premium, quoted. You, on contract. Large and multinational programs, and companies running SAP.
Engine No membership or booking fee. Hotels, through commissions. Hotel-heavy travel such as crews, field teams and project work.
Ramp Travel No platform or booking fee. Ramp Plus is $15 per user a month if you need it. Card interchange and supplier commissions. Companies ready to move the whole corporate card program onto Ramp.

Egencia ranges are Vendr marketplace figures as reported by Engine, which competes with Egencia, so treat them as a starting point for your own quote rather than a rate card.

The math that decides it

How much does Egencia cost against each alternative?

Egencia's cost has two parts that both grow with you: a platform fee set by your segment, and a fee on every booking. At 150 bookings a year the platform fee dominates. At 3,000 the per-booking fee alone runs $18,000 to $36,000. That is the opposite shape from Navan, which charges nothing for booking at any volume under its 300-employee line, and from TravelBank, whose flat fee shrinks as you book more.

The table assumes an average booking of $500, Egencia's online booking rate (agent-assisted bookings cost more), and the Vendr segment that matches each volume. Perk's percentage fee lands at $15 or $25 a booking at that average, inside its $2 to $30 band.

Bookings a year 150 ($75K travel) 1,000 ($500K) 3,000 ($1.5M)
Egencia $8,250 to $21,750 $22,000 to $58,000 $78,000 and up
Navan Business $0 $0 Quoted above 300 staff
Perk Starter $3,750 $25,000 $75,000
Perk Premium $3,438 $16,188 $46,188
TravelBank $5,000 (Premium) $0 net (Premium) $20,000 back (Elite)

Pick by the problem you have

Best Egencia alternative in each situation

A single ranked list hides the fact that the answer moves with headcount, expense system and how much of the booking your travelers do themselves.

01

Under 300 people, mostly self-booked

Navan. The per-booking fee goes to zero and the first five expensing users are free.

02

Travel comes in bursts

Perk Premium. A quiet quarter costs $297 plus 3 percent of very little.

03

Big travel and a U.S. Bank card

TravelBank Elite. Above $500,000 booked, the 2 percent rebate covers the fee and then pays you.

04

Global travelers on Concur Expense

Stay on Egencia and negotiate, or move to Concur Travel. Both now feed Concur Expense natively.

05

Crews and field teams in hotels

Engine. It is built around hotel stays and charges the company nothing to use.

06

The booking tool is fine, the budget is not

You may not need a new platform. An alert on the card spend you already have warns the budget owner mid-month.

If you stay

How to cut an Egencia renewal before you switch

The cheapest move is often a better Egencia contract, and a written Navan or Perk quote is what gets you one. Start from your real numbers: total bookings last year, the split between online and agent-assisted, and how many were changes rather than new trips. Agent bookings are where the fee schedule jumps. One 2021 university contract on public record priced online air at $6 a booking and agent-assisted air at $28 domestic and $33 international.

Then ask for four things in writing: the per-booking fee at your actual volume tier, a cap on the annual escalator, whether changes inside a trip count as a new booking, and what the platform fee buys that the per-booking fee does not. Vendr reports implementation fees of $5,000 to $25,000 on new contracts, so any alternative you price should include its own setup cost too.

If the answer still loses to free booking, move future trips and let booked ones finish where they are. Unused airline credits usually stay with the agency that issued them, so check before the cutover date.

Where SpendNotify fits, and where it does not

SpendNotify does not book flights or hotels and does not replace Egencia. It reads the charges on your Amex, Chase, U.S. Bank or any other card through forwarded bank transaction emails, an iPhone Shortcut for Apple Pay, or a CSV, OFX or QFX statement, and alerts the budget owner by email, Slack or webhook when a department's travel spend is on pace to overshoot.

That matters most during a switch, when bookings land in two tools for a month. The Team plan covers up to 25 monitored employees and cards with unlimited budgets for $199 a month. How it works is on budget alerts.

Questions buyers ask

Egencia pricing and alternatives questions

How much does Egencia cost?

Egencia publishes no price list. Amex GBT sells it on contract, mostly as a per-booking fee plus a platform fee. Vendr ranges reported by Engine put small accounts at $500 to $1,500 a month plus $15 to $25 per booking, and mid-market accounts at $12,000 to $40,000 a year plus $10 to $18 per booking. Agent-assisted bookings cost more.

Who are Egencia's main competitors?

For US companies, Navan, SAP Concur Travel, Perk (formerly TravelPerk), TravelBank, Engine and the travel modules inside Ramp and Brex. On the agency side it competes with BCD Travel, FCM and Direct Travel. Amex GBT now also owns CWT, so CWT is no longer an independent option.

Is Navan cheaper than Egencia?

For booking, usually yes. Navan charges nothing for travel at companies up to 300 employees because airlines and hotels pay it a commission, while Egencia charges per booking plus a platform fee on most contracts. Above 300 employees Navan is quoted, so get both prices in writing at your real annual booking count.

Who owns Egencia?

American Express Global Business Travel. Amex GBT completed the purchase from Expedia Group on November 2, 2021, and Expedia took a minority stake in GBT as part of the deal. Amex GBT is a separate public company that uses the American Express brand under licence.

Does Egencia charge for changes and agent help?

It depends on the contract. Public fee schedules show agent-assisted bookings priced several times higher than online ones, and some buyers report a flat per-trip fee that covers a set number of changes. Ask whether a change inside an existing trip counts as a new booking, because that single clause moves the annual total most.

Can I get travel budget alerts without leaving Egencia?

Yes. SpendNotify reads the card charges you already have and alerts the budget owner by email, Slack or webhook when a department's travel spend is on pace to pass its budget. It does not book travel, so it works next to Egencia or whatever replaces it.
